When you see any signs of mold – no matter what type it might be – along the walls or any other surface around your home then it is time to remove it. Many people will begin to notice signs of mold when they smell something musty coming from a specific area in the home. The most common places are the bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens.
It is important that you take the necessary steps to remove house mold immediately because it will damage your home and can cause certain types of health problems. There are two ways in which you are able to do this. The first is to call a professional who will come into your home, find the mold, and remove it for you.
Your second option is to spend less then half the money and remove it yourself. This is much more affordable and the better choice when the amount of mold is small. The only time you should call a professional is when the extent of the mold is too great for you to handle or you are allergic to it.
Before you can begin to remove the mold you want to put on the necessary safety gear. This means you should be wearing plastic gloves, goggles, face mask, and long pants. When cleaning the area you can use most types of detergents combined with hot water. Keep in mind though that this might not be strong enough to remove most stains.
Using a solution of four parts water and one part bleach is the better option and will save you money from having to purchase a special mold remover. The bleach is strong so make sure that you are working in a well ventilated area. You must NEVER combine bleach with any other type of cleaning product.
Any materials – like clothes and upholstery – that have been affected by the mold can be cleaned and washed by themselves. Any newspapers, boxes, or other types of these items should be disposed of right away. Moldy carpets are very difficult to clean and often times the mold will travel underneath it. The best option is to remove it entirely.
