House Mold

Getting rid of and removing house mold, tips and advice.

House mold is something that many of us have to deal with. This is because we do not understand what needs to be done in order to prevent it. It is important that you and everyone in your family understands what house mold is, what health problems it may cause, and the steps that you can do in order to prevent it.

If you have had problems with mold you understand the process that it takes in order to remove it. This is a long, difficult, and also may be expensive. Once it has been removed you will be ready to prevent house mold from returning to your home.

Repair Leaks

If there are any leaks inside or outside of your home you need to fix them immediately. This will include the pipes that run throughout the entire length of your home, faucets, and gaskets around the refrigerators, dishwashers, and other appliances.

They must all have tight seals around them and insulation around piping that receives heavy condensation. When it comes to the roof and gutter you need to make sure that they are not leaking.

Dehumidifiers

There are some homes that will receive large amounts of humidity throughout certain parts of the year because of the climate that they are in. With this much humidity in the air it will increase the amount of moisture – which will in turn put your home at risk for mold.

The best way to reduce this is to use a dehumidifier. Every so often you will need to clean out the drip pans to keep the drain clean and keep from mold growing inside of the machine and spreading mold spores around.

Proper Venting

There are certain appliances in our home that will produce moisture as they work. In order to avoid this you need to use the proper venting in order to remove it. This venting should be used on your stove, dryer, and kerosene heaters.

In your bathroom you should install and use the exhaust fans. This will remove the excess steam and moisture from the room as you shower. For extra precaution you should dry out the tub when you are finished. Any wet towels and clothes need to air dry on a rack before washing.

Remove Spoiled Food

Mold can grow on food that is sitting in the fridge for long periods of time. It is important that you remove these foods and throw them in the large garbage pail. Afterwards you will need to clean out the refrigerator.
