House Mold

Getting rid of and removing house mold, tips and advice.

Mold is a very dangerous and annoying problem. There are some types of mold that are not dangerous and only give off a bad smell throughout the home. There are other types that not only smell bad – but they can induce health conditions like allergies, asthma, and other upper respiratory conditions.

It is important that you do everything in your power to remove the mold from your home. The only problem is that many of us do not know when there is mold. Many of us will begin to suspect that mold is growing due to the musty smell that is coming form a certain area in the home. In order to confirm your suspicions you must inspect every inch of your home.

Professional Inspection

Some people will hire a professional to go around their home and inspect it all and take sample of what they find. This is helpful because they will tell you what type of mold is in your home, how far it has spread, and how to remove it. The only downside to this is that it can cost between $100 to $500 or even more then this.

Do It Yourself Inspection

It is best to save yourself the time and money and do the inspection yourself. One way in which you are able to do this is to purchase special sample kits. These cost around $10 and will allow you to take sample of the substance that you find around your home.

You will then send the sample off to the lab and wait for the results. The lab fee will cost around $30 or more. The downside to this is that you have to wait for the results and while you wait the mold is still growing and smelling up your home.

The fastest way to find the mold is to start looking where the smell is. This could be your laundry room, basement, bathroom, or anywhere that is damp and dark. Sometimes it will be in the person’s room where they have piled up dirty clothes that are wet. Look around the walls, carpeting, clothes, boxes, and anything else in the room to find any sign that mold is growing.
