House Mold

Getting rid of and removing house mold, tips and advice.

Mold is a type of fungi that produces tiny particles called mold spores. These spores float around in the air that is both inside and outside of our homes. While it is still airborne it is more commonly referred to as an allergen because of the effect it has on people. People who suffer from allergies with have an itchy throat, runny nose, and trouble breathing.

The spores will float in the air until they find a warm, moist area or item that they can settle on. A wet basement, wet clothes, and bad food are popular substances that it will latch onto. The instant it latches on it will begin to feed and germinate. This will cause the mold to be seen and to double in size until it covers a large area. The more mold there is growing the worse it will be on people who suffer from allergies and other respiratory conditions.

The spores will land on nearly every surface that it comes into contact with. However, is the conditions are not just right than they will have no way to feed and will therefore not be able to grow.

In order to develop it need to have certain nutrients and moisture. It commonly feeds on paper, wood, carpets, food, and plastic. If you do not catch it in time it can damage certain items as well as your health and home.

It is important that you keep your home free from excess moisture. Bathrooms and wet basements are some of the worst areas in the home. Installing dehumidifers and exhaust fans help to remove the moisture from the air and to seriously decrease the amount of mold growing. Cleaning these areas on a regular basis will also help to prevent mold from growing all over.

Sometimes we can have mold growing in parts of our home that we cannot even see. People will often spill liquid onto the carpets and allow it to run through all of the layers without cleaning it up. This allows the mold to form underneath the carpet and in the flooring underneath.
