Mold is a problem that many of us have to deal with every now and again. Wet clothes, food, or anything that is dark and damp are susceptible to this substance. Once it has formed it will spread quickly to the surrounding areas and if we don’t catch it early on we will have a dangerous problem on our hands.
There are a number of things we can use to remove this. We could purchase the expensive mold cleaners or we could use something that is right on hand – hydrogen peroxide. This is something that many of us will use to clean things around the home. Rather than using powerful cleaners like bleach or expensive mold removers you can use the peroxide.
This can be used on floors, clothes, appliances, bathroom fixtures, and other things around the home without causing any damage. Unlike the majority of other household cleaners these do not leave behind strong odors and do not have side effects. It will leave your home free of mold and smelling great.
Pour the hydrogen peroxide into a spray bottle. Make sure that you are wearing latex gloves. You don’t want your skin to become dried out by the peroxide and it is not safe for mold to touch it.
When cleaning clothes you want to make sure that your clothes can handle the peroxide. Spray a small amount on a piece of clothing to make sure that it does not fade. If not then you are clear to spray it all over the surface till it is completed soaked with it. If you are treating a wall spray it from the bottom to the top.
Allow it to sit for ten minutes. This is long enough to kill the mold. When the time is up use a scrub brush to scrub the mold and stains left behind. Wipe down the area with a clean rag and rinse off the excess mold and peroxide left behind.
